There’s some added flickering and slowdown, but otherwise it’s replicated remarkably well. Faster and more driving than the Famicom version, GRADIUS 2 remians an absolute treat for VGM and retro synth fans. Naturally, the graphics have been downgraded, but they’re about on the level of Life Force.

Here's the true follow-up, which tragically never saw the light of day in our ol' US of A (NOT counting the PSP Gradius Collection. The Famicom port of Gradius II is a very reasonable conversion. Originally released for the arcades in Japan in 1988, it is the sequel to original Gradius and was succeeded by. In the meantime, however, I've decided to resurrect one of my recent segments from my recently-produced lineup. Gradius II is a side-scrolling shooter game.
